PTF India announces the 1st PTF India Open International Taekwondo Championships (May 30-June 2, 2026) in Srinagar, uniting ITF, Olympic Style, and Kombat Taekwondo for the first time in history.
The Professional Taekwondo Federation India officially announced the 1st PTF India Open International Taekwondo Championships, set to take place from May 30 to June 2, 2026, at the Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Stadium in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, India.
For the first time in history, multiple major styles of Taekwondo will compete on a single unified championship platform. Athletes will compete across ITF Taekwondo, Olympic Style Taekwondo, and Kombat Taekwondo. This historic championship marks the official introduction of Kombat Taekwondo in India, opening new professional competition and global opportunities for Indian athletes.
The event is organized by PTF India under the leadership of President Atul Pangotra. Rick W. Shin, President of PTF and Kombat, stated: "This is a historic moment for Taekwondo in India. For many years, Taekwondo in India has been divided due to politics, creating separation among athletes, organizations, and styles. Today, we are changing that."
The opening day will feature elite-level education and certification programs, including an International Poomsae Seminar conducted by Grand Master Kevin Woon (Kukkiwon 9th Dan, Malaysia), Black Belt Dan & Skip Dan Testing, and Kombat Taekwondo Referee Certification Course. From May 31 through June 2, the championships will showcase high-level international competition with athletes from multiple countries already confirmed to participate.
