Kombat Taekwondo held its first National Qualifying Championships in Uzbekistan on April 4–5, 2026, at the Universal Sports Complex in Tashkent — a historic milestone for professional taekwondo in the region.
Tashkent, Uzbekistan – April 5, 2026 — The Kombat Taekwondo Uzbekistan Championships were successfully held on April 4–5 at the prestigious Universal Sports Complex in Tashkent, marking a major milestone for the development of professional Taekwondo in the region.
The event featured the first ever National Qualifying stage in Kombat Taekwondo in Uzbekistan, with quarterfinal matches officially launching the country's pathway into the global Kombat Taekwondo competition system.
The championships were organized by Kombat Taekwondo Uzbekistan President Mr. Gayrat Kasimov, who also serves as Vice President of the Professional Taekwondo Federation, whose leadership ensured a high quality and professionally executed event.
The competition was conducted under official Kombat Taekwondo rules, with 8 weight divisions for men and 4 for women, and bouts contested in a 1 round, 5 minute format, delivering fast paced and dynamic action.
More than 90 athletes participated based on registrations, demonstrating strong technical ability and competitive spirit. The event attracted significant audience interest, and all matches were professionally recorded for future television broadcast.
Looking ahead, the semifinal bouts are scheduled within the next 2 to 3 months, with the finals planned for the autumn season. In addition, team matches between the Uzbekistan National Team and an Asian representative team are planned before the end of the year.
The Uzbekistan Kombat Taekwondo team is currently preparing for the upcoming World Championships in South Korea, where they aim to represent the nation on the global stage.
